Deeper insights into the lives and thought of our guiding lights
Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee
1901 — 1953 · Founder of Bharatiya Jana Sangh
Born in Kolkata in 1901, Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee was a scholar of remarkable depth — appointed Vice-Chancellor of Calcutta University at just 33. A barrister, parliamentarian and visionary, he served as India's first Minister of Industry and Supply in the Nehru cabinet, laying the foundation of modern Bharatiya industry.
His most enduring contribution was his uncompromising stand for the complete integration of Jammu & Kashmir with Bharat. He gave his life in Srinagar in 1953 — a sacrifice that continues to inspire generations of patriots.
"One nation cannot have two constitutions, two prime ministers and two emblems."
For Mission Modi, Dr. Mookerjee's life embodies the principle that true patriotism demands sacrifice, that scholarship must serve the nation, and that no compromise is acceptable on questions of Bharat's unity and sovereignty.
Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay
1916 — 1968 · Father of Integral Humanism (Ekatma Manav Darshan)
Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay was a thinker, organiser and philosopher whose contribution to Bharatiya political thought remains unmatched. Born in Mathura, he gave Bharat the original philosophy of Ekatma Manav Darshan — Integral Humanism — that rejected both Western capitalism and communism in favour of a uniquely Bharatiya, holistic vision of human development.
His clarion call of "Antyodaya" — the upliftment of the last person — defines the moral compass of every karyakarta in Mission Modi today. He believed development was meaningless unless it touched the poorest in the queue.
"Service to man is service to God — the resolve of Antyodaya is our guiding light."
Mission Modi's grassroots approach — booth-level seva, focus on the rural and the marginalised, integration of cultural and economic upliftment — is a direct application of Deendayal ji's Ekatma Manav Darshan.
Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee
1924 — 2018 · Former Prime Minister, Poet, Statesman, Bharat Ratna
A poet of the heart and a statesman of the highest order, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee was Bharat's first non-Congress Prime Minister to complete a full term. Under his leadership, Bharat tested nuclear devices at Pokhran (1998), launched the Golden Quadrilateral, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, and Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana — initiatives that transformed the nation.
Vajpayee ji's genius lay in his ability to lift politics above bitterness — speaking truth with grace, opposing with respect, and uniting across divides. His oratory remains the gold standard, and his poetry — works like Geet Naya Gaata Hoon — continue to nourish Bharatiya hearts.
"We shall overcome, we shall overcome, someday.
I shall not accept defeat, nor shall I pick a quarrel."
For Mission Modi, Vajpayee ji is the living example that politics can be a sadhana — that one can serve Bharat with conviction without surrendering grace, and that the rashtra is always greater than any individual or party.
